Febre

Brazil

Nominated for the ZKB Patronage Prize

In 1999, choreographer Taís Vieira and political scientist and hip hop specialist Paulo Azevedo founded Membros with a dozen hip hoppers in Macaé – the city with the highest murder rate in Brazil. Today, the company belongs to the most creative professional dance troupes of the South American hip hop scene. Membros combines street dance and hip hop to create energetic and radical performances that focus on the social predicaments and the increasing violence in Brazilian cities. «Febre» – the second part of their trilogy on violence – delivers both an impressive artistic and a political statement.
