Peeping Tom

Le Sous Sol

Belgium

They wilfully disregard genres, ignore age limits and other conventions and operate spectacularly and with humour at the limits of what is physically possible. The artists’ collective Peeping Tom – once labelled «the Almodóvars of the European dance scene» – has gained an international reputation with its unconventional and strongly theatrical creations. With «Le Jardin» (2003) and «Le Salon» (2006) behind them, they now present the final part of their trilogy about the downfall of a family. «Le Sous Sol», featuring the stupendous 80-year-old Butoh dancer Maria Otal and the mezzo-soprano Eurudike de Beul, concludes the story about the members of this doomed family: They are all dead and buried «under ground».
