The festival presents the premiere of the first joint creation of Belgian actress and director Lies Pauwels and dancer and choreographer Ben Benaouisse. Their artistic paths have crossed many times in the past years. They both belong to the hard core of the Flemish dance and theatre scene centred on Alain Platel, Arne Sierens and Victoria. They have each produced a number of expressive and successful works. Both rely on improvisation and develop their shows with the dancers and actors during rehearsals. The starting point of «Venizke» is music. So far, Pauwels and Benaouisse have used music to create the atmospheric and emotional development of a piece. The basis for the improvisational development of «Venizke» is a clearly defined musical score, which draws its inspiration from various canons of different eras. (esc)
